Shopify Partners with TikTok to Expand Social Ecommerce

Shopify partnered with TikTok on Tuesday.

Now over 1 million Shopify merchants can leverage the huge TikTok audience with the short video ads. Shopify sellers can now create video ads through the Shopify dashboard and directly publish on TikTok.

Shopify announced this news with a small and creative short video on its official TikTok handle.

In the promotional video, Shopify urges the merchants to reach a whole new audience on TikTok with short creative video ads.

Similar to Facebook Pixel, Shopify sellers can also install TikTok Pixel in thier store to track the visitor’s activity and optimize their TikTok ad campaign.

Before the TikTok Pixel, TikTok advertisers track the user’s activity by user registration to the website, adding an item in the shopping cart, submitting an order, and completing a purchase.

This partnership announcement was made between the postponed negotiations for Walmart to acquire 7.5 percent of TikTok’s share.

Earlier this month, Walmart CEO, Doug McMillion expressed his desire in a CNBC interview to recognize TikTok’s potential in social commerce expansion.

“If you’re watching a TikTok video and somebody’s got a piece of apparel or an item on it that you really like, what if you could just quickly purchase that item? That’s what we’re seeing happen in countries around the world. And it’s intriguing to us, and we would like to be part of it.”

TikTok’s Global Business Solution Vice President, Blake Chandlee, showed his delight of recognizing TikTok for social commerce propagation.

He said:

“We are delighted to partner with Shopify and provide a channel for their merchants to reach new audiences and drive sales on TikTok. As social commerce proliferates, retailers are recognizing that TikTok’s creative and highly engaged community sets it apart from other platforms. We’re constantly exploring new and innovative ways to connect brands with our users, and Shopify is the perfect partner to help us grow and expand our commerce capabilities globally.”

He expressed that this TikTok and Shopify partnership will make social media platforms more shoppable.

Shopping through social media channels is still not a very common practice in the USA. Merchants are getting lead from Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram, however, TikTok integration would bolster social commerce to flourish.

The highlight of TikTok Shopify integration is the easement of creating a video ad within Shopify without any technicalities.

Shopify merchants only need to select the products to promote and the video ads will be generated automatically that will appear on TikTok’s user video feed and drive the visitor to the checkout page on the Shopify store.
