Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
The unique thing that Spreadshirt brings to the table is the Marketplace. The marketplace lets you sell your designs without having to worry about your shop and marketing at all.
You just upload your designs to the marketplace and buyers can put those designs on any product and buy it. You receive the commission for the design everytime it gets sold. Most other platforms just let you put up different products up for sale, but Spreadshirt allows you to sell your designs directly and it’s up to the buyer to choose the product they want to put your design on.
- You can make a great shop on this platform that matches the theme and tone of your website.
- The selection of products is, and it includes a lot of different brands.
- The print quality is top-notch, and customers love how the prints come out on various products.
- They automatically send you income tax files at the end of the year, if required.
- You can choose to put your products on the marketplace or have them in your exclusive shop.
- If you want the higher quality print, then you need to stick to a maximum of three colors.
- The product catalog is quite lacking, and there’s still room for more product addition.
- You are limited to using only certain ink colors.
How Spreadshirt Works
Spreadshirt is a unique Print on Demand platform that offers services more suited towards designers, but still a non-designer can also make great profits through this platform as well.
In our Spreadshirt review, we noticed that it works in two different ways and you can even combine both of the methods to maximize your profits.
When you upload a design on Spreadshirt, it asks you to either sell it on the Spreadshirt Marketplace or create your own shop on the platform known as Spreadshop.
Selling the design on marketplace means that everyone on Spreadshirt can put your designs on their preferred items and sell it while you make a set amount of commission on each sale.
Opening a Spreadshop means that you get to put your designs on your preferred items and sell them exclusively on your shop. You make a predefined profit on each sale that you get to set.
However, keep in mind that both approaches have their ups and downs. If you are putting your designs up on the marketplace for sale then you get free traffic through Spreadshirt’s own marketing efforts and other people pretty much promote your designs. But, you only make a percentage on each sale which is lower than what you could make if you were selling the designs yourself.
On the other hand, if you sell the designs through the Spreadshop then you can set the profit yourself giving you the opportunity to make as much as you want, however, with this approach you severely limit your exposure and you have to pretty much market your shop and products by yourself which limits your sales and profits.
So, good idea is to start by selling your designs on the marketplace and once your designs become popular, you can branch out to your own shop and start selling your designs for more profits.
Spreadshirt has very easy to grasp pricing and payments plan. There is actually no rice for you to pay. Everything is offered for free. Absolutely free! Of course, you have to pay the price for the products and the printing, but you don’t pay it from your wallet.
Whenever a buyer purchases your product, you earn your commission/profit on the product and Spreadshirt gets their cut automatically. This means that you don’t have to bear any expenses whatsoever. The storage, printing, manufacturing, and the logistics are taken care of by Spreadshirt and all you have to do is upload your designs and promote your products.
Each product, however, comes with a different price tag. Different products have different printing areas that could cost extra. So, in order to check the price for each individual product, head over to Printing cost page and select the desired product in the drop down menu. This way you will get the total price of the final product including design price.
In the ‘Financial administration’ section of your Spreadshirt account, you will find two different payment methods: PayPal transfer and SEPA transfer to a German or other European bank account.
SEPA transfers are only done in the EUR and GBP currencies. PayPal transfers can be in any currency. If you don’t provide a PayPal account in the settings then you will be paid in euros.
This is great because PayPal is universal and sellers from any country can get their payments withdrawn quickly via PayPal. European sellers can get seamless withdrawals directly to their bank accounts without any hassle.
There are multiple shipping options available on Spreadshirt. Each shipping option has a different cost for different locations.
Standard delivery: Standard delivery is the basic option that most of the orders are shipped with. This shipping option doesn’t have tracking. If this option is selected then the order is sent in an envelope and there’s no way to track the package. Standard delivery takes around 10-12 days depending on the location of the order.
Premium delivery: Premium delivery allows easier tracking of the package. The size and number of item in the package don’t matter when selecting premium delivery because it provides complete tracking of the order. Premium delivery takes around 7 days for the shipment.
Express delivery: This is the fastest shipping method available on Spreadshirt and provides thorough tracking of the package. It takes around 2-3 days for the shipment to reach the destination with Express delivery.
