TeeSpring Review 2018 – Starting The Perfect Print-On-Demand Business
Most newcomers to the ecommerce industry look into dropshipping as their first step. It’s either dropshipping from somewhere like AliExpress or selling custom designed t-shirts via Print-on-Demand services.
Print-On-Demand is a profitable way of getting into eCommerce. It costs next to nothing and lets you bring out your creative side.
There are numerous Print-on-Demand (POD) App services out there, but today we’re going to take a detailed look at one of the top services, known as TeeSpring.
TeeSpring is a POD service that allows you to design custom clothing, household items, posters, and much more to put up for sale on their website. If you have a good idea for a design, it’s the perfect way to make some profits.
TeeSpring handles everything including printing, fulfillment, shipping, and customer support. All you have to worry about is coming up with a unique design that can actually sell.
Today, we are going to review TeeSpring and see how it works, how you can make your first design, how to market your designs, and finally, how you get paid for it.
Hopefully, after reading this review, you will be able to design your own products, market them, and sell them successfully on TeeSpring.
How Does TeeSpring Work
TeeSpring is quite simple. If you are a complete beginner to POD services then TeeSpring is the perfect platform to learn the ropes.
All you have to do is sign up, create a design, select your desired products, and promote them. Everything else will be taken care of by TeeSpring it self.
Here are the steps that will show you exactly how TeeSpring works.
1. Signup for Free
The signup process is quite simple at TeeSpring. Just go to the signup page and enter your details. That’s all you need to do, create an account. It’s absolutely free.
2. Design Your Product
The next step is to choose your desired product. It can be anything from a t-shirt to a mug. Choose your desired product and get to designing.
The designer tool is very helpful and easy to use. You can add text, artworks, images, etc to your product. You can either use the available artworks or upload your own designs.
As you design your product, it will show you exactly how much it will cost to print it.
3. Set the Price and Minimum Quantity
Once you are satisfied with the design and the product that you have created. It’s time to set the minimum sales you expect.
TeeSpring works differently from other POD services. You set a minimum number of items to be sold. If that goal isn’t met, they do not print / ship your product and you are not charged.
So, make sure that you choose a realistic number of minimum quantity that you actually expect to sell in the timeframe you choose.
TeeSpring also suggests a recommended selling price for your product, but you have the ability to adjust the price which modifies your earnings on each sale. TeeSpring clearly shows you the profit you will make if you meet your minimum goal.
4. Write a Catchy Description
Now, you must write 2-3 lines describing your product. It could be anything, but this is where you have to be creative. Write something catchy, something that will attract your customers and make them buy your item. Hit Launch and your product is live.
5. Market Your Product
Everything is up, your design is live, your product is ready to sell. However, you must market and promote your product everywhere you can. Ask your friends, share on your social media, etc.
TeeSpring Training Center is a great place to learn all about promoting your product. They also have a Marketing tab in the Dashboard area.
You can enter your Facebook ads ID and Facebook Pixel (Here’s how you can create a Facebook Pixel) to track the data.
6. Get Paid
This is definitely the best and most favorite step for any budding entrepreneur. You get paid when your campaign meets its goals.
TeeSpring offers payments via PayPal, Direct Deposit, Mail Check, and Payoneer. You can use any one of these payment methods to cash out your winnings.

How Does Printing Work on Teespring
Each product has different printable area where you can put your design. These printable areas have a limit and if you cross this limit, it will not print your entire design.
So, you have to be very careful when designing your product. Specially, when you are uploading your own design, you must adhere to the product’s dimension.
When the printable area has a red outline it means that your design is actually larger than the printable area. If this happens then you must resize your design. If not, then design will be cut off when the product is printed. Check the image below.
When the design fits perfectly then the outline will be grey which means it’s perfect fit for when printed. The image below is the perfect example.
Since each product has different dimensions for printable area you need to be considerate of this fact. A t-shirt has a smaller area than a hoodie’s printable area. So, always keep in mind when offering the same design on different products.
Let’s look at the dimensions for all the products and what safe printable areas are for each product.
1. Canvas Print:
A Canvas has three different sizes. Small, Medium, and Large. Check the image below for each size and its cost.
Make sure that your design stays within the range of the printable area depending on the size you choose.

The phone case dimensions are 2.87″ x 5.81″ Printable Area.
Towels/Beach towels and flags both sport a 58″ x 34″ Printable area where you can put your custom design for print.
There are 2 sizes of posters. Medium (18″ x 24″) and Large (24″ x 36″), the entire poster area is the printable area for your design.
6. Pillows/Wall Tapestry
A full-sized wall tapestry has a 100″ x 84″ printable area that covers the entire tapestry. Pillows sport an 18″ x 18″ printable area on both the front and back.
7. Stickers/Tote Bags/Mugs
Tote Bags have a 10″ x 12″ Printable area, Stickers have a 3.5″ x 4.9″ Printable area, and 11oz mugs have entire front and back as the printable area.
Teespring offers both Direct to Garment printing and Screen Printing. Both processes are carried out with the highest quality. Which printing method is used will be determined by the order details.
Here are some more details regarding the printing methods:
– Screen Printing is used for orders with higher quantity. Each layer of the design gets its own screen, created by their printing facility. The screens are then used to print the screens directly on the fabric.
– With Direct-to-Garment printing, the design is first scanned, analyzed, and prepared by a program. Once it’s vetted and tested by their team to ensure there are no imperfections or errors, it is printed directly to the products.
TeeSpring guarantees satisfaction and the highest of quality with both printing methods, and all the designs undergo a thorough and rigorous art analysis by their team before they are ready to print.
Teespring is absolutely free to use. They charge you a flat price per product – You choose the selling price yourself and get to keep 100% of the profits after deducting the base price.
For example, if the base price for a tee is $15 and you set the selling price at $25, you would keep $10 in profits.
However, there are two factors that can have an impact on the base price of certain Teespring products:
- If the design is single-sided or double-sided – for example, designs on front and back of a apparel can increase the base price.
- Pricing Discount – for example, items you sold in the previous month may reduce the base price of the items. It depends on the number you sold in the previous month.
Here are the pricing for all the apparels and items that do not fall under flat pricing. The number of sales determine the discount for these items.
The flat pricings are applicable on some products as shown in the image below.
